Mission Statement:

The Association of Kerala Veterinarians in North America (AKVNA) is dedicated to fostering a strong and supportive community for veterinarians of Kerala origin residing and working in North America. We strive to advance the veterinary profession, promote professional development, facilitate networking opportunities, support veterinary education, and contribute to the well-being of animals.

The Association of Kerala Veterinarians in North America (AKVNA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2000 by esteemed alumni of Kerala's veterinary institutions, has been a vital resource for veterinarians of Kerala origin across North America for over two decades. We provide a platform for connection, collaboration, and professional growth, while also giving back to the institution that shaped our careers. 

AKVNA is committed to:

  • Building a Thriving Community: We connect Kerala veterinarians across North America, fostering a strong network of support, mentorship, and shared expertise.

  • Advancing Veterinary Excellence: We facilitate continuing education and professional development opportunities to ensure our members remain at the forefront of veterinary medicine.

  • Supporting Veterinary Education: We provide crucial support to our alma mater in Kerala, helping to train the next generation of veterinary professionals. This includes  scholarships, research grants, educational resources and endowmennt fund.

  • Promoting Animal Welfare: We champion the well-being of animals through our collective expertise and advocacy.

AKVNA Voluntary Endowment Fund:

AKVNA is collecting contributions for the Voluntary Endowment Fund to help veterinarians in the USA and its alma mater in Kerala. This fund was created in 2019 to support the emergency needs of veterinarians in the US/Canada or support veterinary students or alumni from Kerala Vet University. In the past, we gave student aids to vet students who didn’t have enough money to support studies, medical expenses of students, or alumni who met with unfortunate accidents or health problems. 

AKVNA has contributed to the following notable requests:

2020:​

  • With the help of donations and the money from the endowment fund AKVNA donated Rs.100,000/- each to both Dr. Saji Easow (1986 batch) and Dr. Darsana (2012 batch) towards their treatment expenses. An additional Rs. 28000/- was also sent separately collected from AKVNA members in Canada.

 

2019:

  • $900 towards the ‘Student Aid Fund’ initiated by VAAK, Mannuthy through AKVNA BoA account, and donated to VAAK SBI account (c/o Dr. Vrinda Menon) for disbursement. 3 other members of AKVNA donated Rs. 12000 each directly to the VAAK SBI account.

 

  • $3471.00 for Rini Roy Fund using the GoFundme and transferred the amount to COVAS Dean’s account which was transferred to Rini Roy’s parents.

 

2018

  • $3400.00 for Dr. SreeVidya Fund using the GoFundme and transferred the amount to a SreeVidya Chikilsa Sahaya Fund via the AKVNA BOA account.
